On Friday May 6, California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers out of the Mojave area office were dispatched to a collision on Highway 395 just north of the Garlock Road turnoff. A 2008 Freightliner, driven by Nestor Camp, 24 of Wasco, CA, was traveling northbound ahead of a 2018 Honda Goldwing motorcycle ridden by Mark Stother, 50 of Gonzalez, AZ. For reasons still being investigated by the CHP, the motorcycle collided with the rear end of the Freightliner. The impact caused the trailer to lose its load of hot asphalt onto the roadway. Strother succumbed to his injuries sustained as a result of the collision. The CHP requests anyone who witnessed or has any information regarding the collision to please call Officer Moore at the CHP Mojave Area office at (661) 823-5500.
