To the Editor: Ridgecrest conversation on local services

As you know, we launched The Ridgecrest Community Conversation to hear your feedback on local City services and priorities and we are listening. You’ve told us how important public safety and specifically fire prevention and emergency medical response services are to you.

That’s why we have prioritized our local Fire services as part of this year’s budget process. Our local fire stations must respond to two or more residents at the time almost every day. Without an additional source of local funding, the City may need to close one of the two City fire stations – putting lives at risk. We continue to work with the County to strive to keep these two stations open to provide the services you rely on the most.

To date, the following priorities have also been identified by Ridgecrest residents:

Maintaining 911 emergency response times

Maintaining emergency medical response

Continuing City street and pothole repair

Maintaining Ridgecrest Fire Services and keeping both fire stations open full time

Maintaining programs to improve the local economy and job creation
