Ridgecrest male victim of fatal shooting

On the morning of January 17, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Ridge Unit deputies of the Kern County Sheriff Office (KCSO), Kern County Fire Department and Liberty ambulance responded to the 4500 block of Drummond Avenue in Ridgecrest for the report of a victim of a shooting.

Upon arrival, deputies and medical units found evidence of a shooting, but no victim was on scene. Through their investigation, deputies discovered that prior to their arrival, the victim had been transported to Ridgecrest Regional Hospital by a private party. The adult male victim, later identified as Junior Enrique Galang, was shot by another at the Drummond location and was pronounced deceased at the hospital by medical personnel.

Kern County Sheriff Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to assume the investigation. They are asking that anyone with information please contact KCSO at (661) 861-3110 or Secret Witness at (661) 322-4040.

Further details were not available at press time. A postmortem examination will be conducted to confirm the cause and manner of death and is still under investigation.
