Valley’s first winter storm brings high winds followed by rain This week’s weather roared in like a lion on Monday and it appears that it will go out like a lamb. According to China Lake Flight Weather Forecaster, Davin Lacuesta, the maximum winds at China Lake on Monday were 44 mph with gusts up to 52 mph. Stronger winds were evident in other parts of the valley on Monday as trees were toppled, businesses lost signage and visibility was low.

There was a total of 0.05” of rainfall. The last rainfall was registered on September 9, 2021 with the same 0.05”. The area is still experiencing drought conditions. The average rainfall for the valley is 3.9” per year. Mild weather is forecast for this weekend.

There were reports of snowfall over the Northern Sierra Range.
