SSUSD concerned about poor air quality

SSUSD concerned about poor air qualitySierra Sands Unified School District Superintendent David Ostash–September 28, 2021

Smoke from the Windy and Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks (KNP) Complex Fires continue to seriously impact our air quality. There is nowhere to hide from this unfortunate situation that is affecting us all.

We are also in direct communication with the Kern County Superintendent of Schools, as well as the Kern County Department of Public Health. Consistent with their guidance, we are restricting physical activity at all school sites.

Additionally, we are fortunate that all cooling units in our school facilities use high quality filtration systems that give students and staff better air quality while in the learning environment.
