Ridgecrest Opera to present Mozart’s Magic Flute

Ridgecrest Opera to present Mozart’s Magic FluteThe Ridgecrest Opera Workshop production team has embodied the saying, “where there’s a will, there’s a way” and have brought three versions of Mozart’s Magic Flute opera to Ridgecrest.

Like many of the TV shows and movies off in Hollywood, the arts community is very much alive and making it work. While the pandemic locked down options for performances, the Workshop put together a virtual presentation of the youth cast. It was edited and recorded by youth team members. As everything began to open back up, the youth cast’s one night only presentation of the opera had audiences clamoring for more. With that, more than a year in the making, the Workshop presents yet another dramatic presentation of Magic Flute on September 30, October 1st and October 2nd with the adult cast members.

The production team was led by producer/director Yihfen Chen, Music Director Chloe Crouse, vocal coach David Hodgson, string coaches Clare Hatter and Laura Olinger. The orchestra has been phenomenal in all three productions. What will make the upcoming fall performance unique is the addition of a live orchestra with live singing.

I had to remind myself that these were teenagers - they played instruments, learned how to edit sound and video recordings… the future holds so much for this group of young people!”

The performance dates are Thursday, September 30th, Friday, October 1st, and Saturday, October 2nd at 6:30 pm. Doors open at 6 pm. The performance venue is in a local Ridgecrest garden located at 958 Leslie Street with a parking lot entrance just past Brady St.
