Jerald N Allred, known to all as ‘Jody’, went to his heavenly home to be with his beloved wife, Shirley, and youngest daughter, Lisa, on August 26, 2021. Jody was 91 years young.

Jody was born November 17, 1929 in Fielding, Utah, to Jeddy Newton & Roxie Allred. He lived in Utah for only a few years before his father moved them to California.

Jody met his wife, Shirley, while they were attending Burbank High School. They married in 1949 and raised five children.

In 1965 their family moved from the San Fernando Valley to Bishop, California, where they stayed until construction work brought them to Ridgecrest in the mid 70’s. At that time, the base was closing the housing to non-military personnel and there was a need for new homes.

Jody was a General Contractor and president/owner of Holiday Construction Corp. He loved building homes. Often asked about how he came up with his company’s name he would say ‘It’s because I am always on a ‘Holiday’.

There are numerous homes throughout the valley that Holiday Construction built. Probably the most memorable of his homes are in ‘Eastridge Estates’. This was a very successful joint venture with Tavish MacGregor and First Federal Savings and Loan.

Jody passed on his love of building to two of his sons. He was proud watching them become successful at the trade he loved. Gary is a general contractor and truss manufacturer, while Jeff is well known for his framing capabilities. Jody also loved to pass along his knowledge and teach the trade to others.

Jody was reluctant to give up the work that he loved. Even in his ‘retirement years’ he could be seen riding shot-gun with his son Gary, visiting various building sites. When not riding in the truck he could be found most days sitting on his ‘stool’ at Gary’s office, greeting all who walked through the door.

A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Jody loved God and his Savior Jesus Christ, his family and his work. He was a loving and caring husband, father and friend. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

Jody is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, and his daughter, Lisa Farmer. He is survived by his children, Gary and his wife Cindy, Bonnie and her husband Roy Mayhugh, Jeff and Kevin. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, twenty great- grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Marge Allred, six nieces, one nephew and many extended family members.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 16th, 10:00 am, at Eternal Valley Memorial Park & Mortuary in Newhall, CA.
