Historical Society cancels all September events due to COVID surge

HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF THE UPPER MOJAVE DESERT - The HSUMD planned to resume our signature events at the Historic USO Building during the month of September, with our musical Open Mic Nights, our endearing family-oriented Classic Movie Nights, our free monthly Veterans Breakfast, and our monthly General Meeting returning to our schedule after over a year-and-a-half respite. Our last few newsletters listed the specific dates of these planned resumptions of events.

In our last newsletter, however, we also stated “Please note and understand: All of these events and dates are subject to changes due to changes in the health and safety conditions in our community at the time.” HSUMD is saddened to have to say that we will not be resuming these events during the month of September.

While we yearn for a return to our delightful and entertaining evenings with our cherished guests, we also treasure the health and safety of both our guests and our volunteers. Given the current and ongoing effects on our community of the latest COVID-19 surge, with a variant of the virus becoming more prevalent and carrying increased virulence,

HSUMD has decided that the risk of resuming events that congregate guests and volunteers together is just too risky at this time.
