Search continues for missing hiker

Search continues for missing hikerOver the weekend, members of the China Lake Mountain Rescue Group (CLMRG) contributed to the search efforts that are ongoing in Yosemite National Park for a 69 year old missing hiker, Richard Judd.  On Sunday, July 25th, Mr. Judd went missing near Lower Merced Pass Lake while he and his hiking partner were returning to their camp.

A team of 4 from CLMRG were transported via Park Service helicopter in to the remote area to relieve previous teams and join additional resources from Marin County, Tuolumne County, and Yosemite Search and Rescue.  Search teams spent three days off-trail scouring the rugged, brush and tree covered terrain that surrounded the subject’s point-last-seen.

Efforts were hampered at times due to afternoon thunderstorms that produced heavy rain, hail, and lighting. As of Sunday, August 1st, Mr. Judd was still missing.  Search operations are ongoing.

The attached picture of Mr. Judd shows the clothing he was wearing at the time of his disappearance.
