Jim Lewis Scholarships awardedThe scholarships honor Jim Lewis; a devoted husband and father of four children, all graduates of Burroughs High School. He resided in Ridgecrest for 31 years and was employed as a model maker at the Naval Weapons Center. He was active in the community and in the United Methodist Church of Ridgecrest. He served 12 years as an elected official on the Sierra Sands Unified School District Board of Education and gained the admiration of his fellow board members as well as the community. Jim also served as president of the local NAACP Chapter for two terms and served on the County Park Commission spawning ideas now incorporated in the Leroy Jackson Park.

Scholarship winner, FungKong is planning on attending Cerro Coso Community College, studying to become a Radiology Technician.

Scholarship winner, Kylie is going to attend the University of California San Diego , studying Biomedical Engineering.
