Michael J. RogersOur Community sadly lost a pillar on Saturday 13 February 2021, when Michael James Rogers passed away from his battle with cancer. A Loving Father, Veteran and active community member Mike positively touched the lives of so many of us.

Mike was born on 19 June 1972 in Orange, California and grew up in Iowa, Louisiana. After graduating from Iowa High School, he started his patriotic career when he enlisted in the United States Navy as an Air crewman and Aviation Structural Mechanic in October of 1990. He served honorably for the next 5 years until he transferred to the Naval Reserves in 1995.

While in the Reserves he worked for Conoco Phillips in Louisiana and received his Bachelors of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from McNeese State University. Once again, he was called to duty in defense of the nation he so loved when he enlisted in the United States Army in March of 2007, where he served as an Army policeman until March of 2009.

During his dedicated service Mike received the Navy Good Conduct award, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense (W/Bronze Star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (W/Star), Army Service Medal, Overseas Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal and Army Driver/Mechanic Badge. While on his final deployment Mike moved his family to Ridgecrest, Ca in 2008 where he joined them in 2009 ending his 9-year military career and starting his Civil Service career here at Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD), China Lake, CA.

Continually seeking to better himself Mike applied and was accepted in the Naval Post Graduate School where he earned his 2nd Bachelors of Science degree in Systems Engineering. Filling numerous critical positions throughout his NAWCWD career, at the time of Mike’s passing, he was successfully leading more than 400+ personnel as the Sustainment Group Deputy Director culminating into 25 years of dedicated service to his country.

Selfless and committed, Mike always found time to help others throughout the city of Ridgecrest.

For more than 10 years he contributed to the community as a coach and during a period of that time held the position of President of the Ridgecrest Youth Conference.

Continuing on with serving his community, Mike joined the Ridgecrest Police Department in 2018 as a reservist for almost 3 years.

He is survived by, the Love of his Life, Lizabeth Marquet of Ridgecrest, CA; mother and step-father Marilyn and Herman Prejean, Brother and spouse, Bill and Rachel Rogers, all of Iowa, LA, sons Blake, Nathan and Chase Rogers, Hugo and Elliot Marquet all of Ridgecrest, CA and son Kyle Rogers currently serving in the USMC, nephews Tucker and Zach Rogers, Riley and Ross Cormier all of Iowa, LA. Mike was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Marissa Rogers.

The family will have a Celebration of Life on 27 February 2021, 10:00 am at Indian Wells Brewing Company in Inyokern, Ca for Mike’s family, friends and co-workers to attend and participate. Procession to start at 09:30 am on the corner of Ward and Mahan heading north to the brewery.
