The Ridgecrest Police Department seized more than 600 mature marijuana plants with a street value exceeding $2 million and made one arrest on Tuesday, Feb. 23.

According to an RPD release, detectives were surveilling the residence of a suspected illegal marijuana cultivating operation which they were made aware of on Monday, Feb. 22. Detectives observed suspect Zhison Huang leave the residence and stopped him for questioning.

RPD Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence, where they discovered the extensive cultivation operation of marijuana.

According to detectives, with a one year cultivation the operation would produce upwards of a $6 million crop.

The suspect (or possibly suspects) reportedly bypassed the electric panel to provide the necessary electricity for the operation.

Huang, a 37-year-old Illinois resident, is facing charges for illegal cultivation of marijuana and theft of utilities.
