Shirley Lynn (Bailey) Nelson

Shirley Lynn (Bailey) NelsonShirley Lynn (Bailey) Nelson, 72, of Inyokern passed away on November 2nd at Loma Linda after a month long stay in the ICU. She was born February 20, 1942, in Fort Lewis, Washington. Shirley spent her childhood as an Army brat moving every two years to a new base. While on overseas deployments, she lived in Heidelberg, Stuttgart, and Frankfort, Germany. In the US she lived in Fort Lewis, Fort Still OK, Fort Bragg NC, Fort Benning GA, Fort Bliss TX, and Las Cruces, New Mexico. At each new location, Shirley made new friends within days because of her outgoing personality. She was a people person with a very strong mindset. As an adult, she lived in Newark, Ohio before settling in Ridgecrest/Inyokern for her last 50 years. Shirley had several bookkeeping jobs before retiring in the late 90’s. Shirley spent most of her retirement gardening, reading, doing puzzles, spoiling her dog Squirt, and loving her family. Her life revolved around her husband Dan Nelson and granddaughter Katey Bailey. Shirley is survived by Husband Dan, Sister Diane Sommer (Husband Greg and children Susan, Greg and Amanda) and her Son Michael Bailey (Wife Tracy and daughter Katey). She was preceded in death by her Mother Kathleen Eisenhower, Father Roy Eisenhower and her first husband William Bailey. Shirley will be missed greatly. She chose not to hold a service, opting instead for people to remember her impact on their lives.
