Community pool meeting scheduled

The city’s Parks, Recreation & Quality of Life Committee will hold a special meeting Tuesday, Oct. 20, to continue gathering public input for a Statewide Park Development grant which could help the city fund a new community swimming pool. The meeting will be held outdoors at the Kerr McGee Youth Sports Complex to allow for physical distancing.

The grant application is due Dec. 14 and city officials have stressed that community engagement and public input are required metrics for the competitive grant. The city is pursuing up to $8.5 million in funds.

“All committee meetings are now open to the public,” said the agenda. “However social distancing/COVID guidelines will need to be followed.”

Another meeting is planned for Monday, Nov. 2. For Quality of Life Committee agendas, visit ridgecrest-ca.gov/ agendacenter. See future editions for more information.
