Dr. Robert Schumacher

It is with great sorrow that the family of Dr. Robert Mayo Schumacher, aged 84, wishes to announce his death on Aug. 10, 2020.

Bob was diagnosed with bladder cancer only weeks before, but due to the truly wonderful Ridgecrest Hospice program we were able to keep him home where he would be safe, as comfortable as possible and accessible to our children, grandchildren and closest friends. Throughout his final days Bob did not lose his sense of humor or wonder over all that he cherished in this life. He left us early in the morning hour with three of us surrounding him, holding him. We miss Bob and our hearts feel broken, but we thank God for him, knowing that he lives forever within the hearts of our children, grandchildren and all who knew and loved him.

Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathleen Schumacher, and his children, grandchildren and honorary grandchildren. These are Suzanne Schumacher, grandchild Sophie and partner Thomas Taylor. Luke Schumacher, wife Jessica Bloom and child Sidney Rose. Noah Schumacher, wife Heather Schumacher and children Alta, Dexter and Hazel. Raphael Schumacher, mother of grandson Carissa McFadden and grandson Kayne Schumacher; mother of grandchildren Roxanne Exzabe-Farmer and grandchildren Kiah, Riyah, twins Yana and Noelani, Noah, and Tyreke and Devan Sanders. Mikhail Schumacher and partner Nicole Weldon. Olivia Schumacher and partner Kyle Dennis, and grandchildren Kayden, Molly and Vinnie Dennis.

We wish to acknowledge and thank the many friends who worked with Bob in his pediatric practice and throughout the hospital, his patients and their parents who loved and trusted him, and all our fellow community members whose love and kindness have made our lives here rich in spirit, good and true. You are precious to us.

We extend our special thanks to our doctor, Gul Anwar MD, whose loving guidance carried and sustained us throughout the difficult transition which Bob so bravely accomplished.

If anyone wishes to make a donation in Bob’s name we kindly ask you to consider doing so to Ridgecrest Hospital Home Nurses/Hospice Program. Our gratitude to Hospice cannot be measured.

— Submitted by the entire family of our beloved husband, father and grandfather Robert M. Schumacher
