Council, mayor forums next weekCandidate forums for the races for City Council and Mayor will be held this week, to offer Indian Wells Valley voters an opportunity to hear positions from the nine candidates of the two separate races.

The candidates seeking the two-year mayor seat, which include Eric Bruen, Lindsey Stephens, Christian West and Tom Wiknich, will participate in a forum held Tuesday, Sept. 29.

The five candidates seeking two available four-year seats on the council include Lori Acton, Christian Aguirre, Kyle Blades, Steve Morgan and Solomon Rajeratnam will participate in a forum the following evening, Wednesday, Sept. 30.

All forums will be streamed live at 6 p.m. on the City of Ridgecrest YouTube Channel.

The forums will be moderated by representatives from the hosting agencies, which include IWV Economic Development Corp. (Scott O’Neil), Ridgecrest Area Association of Realtors (Norm Alexander) and Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce (Tim Smith).

Because COVID restrictions prohibit the public from participating in person, the city of Ridgecrest is donating use of Ridgecrest City Council Chambers. Proceedings will be recorded and uploaded after the fact for those unable to tune in real time.

“We hope to use these forums to inform the public of each candidate’s position on very important issues in the Indian Wells Valley,” reads a statement from the three host agencies. “These forums will allow the candidates to have a real forum for the public to get to know them.”
