The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of 62-year-old Inyokern resident Susan Laurie Alfson after the Kern County Coroner’s Office ruled her death a homicide.

According to a KCSO release, Alfson’s remains were discovered in her home on the 6500 block of Orchard Avenue in Inyokern on June 14 after deputies responded to a “suspicious death.”

Since then, a postmortem examination determined that strangulation was the cause of Alfson’s death and the manner was homicide. As of Sept. 11, investigators reportedly “identified a person of interest in this case.”
