2020 Election Season SummaryWelcome to the 2020 Campaign Season! For the next two months, the News Review will use this space to provide information on the candidates, forums, opportunities for public input, ballot timelines and more.


The Candidates

Residents of the city of Ridgecrest will have an opportunity to choose between the following candidates in four separate races:

Sierra Sands Unified School District Board of Trustees (two seats) — Darrell Eddins Sr., William Farris, Michael Scott

Ridgecrest City Council (two seats) — Lori Acton, Christian Aguirre, Kyle Blades, Steven Morgan, Solomon Rajaratnam

Ridgecrest Mayor (one seat) — Eric Bruen, Lindsey Stephens, Christian West, Thomas Wiknich

IWV Water District Board of Directors (three seats) — Mallory Boyd, Chuck Cordell, Andrew Guetzkow, Chuck Griffin, Ron Kicinski


Campaign Statements

The News Review is in the process of reaching out to candidates of local races, and will invite each contender to offer information about their backgrounds, goals, reasons for pursuing office, and positions on high-profile issues. Statements from participating candidates will be published on the following schedule:

SSUSD Board of Trustees — Friday, Sept. 25

Ridgecrest City Council — Friday, Oct. 2

Ridgecrest Mayor — Friday, Oct. 9

IWVWD Board of Directors — Friday, Oct. 16


Candidate Forums

The Indian Wells Valley Economic Development Corp. has partnered with the Ridgecrest Area Association of Realtors and the Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce to host a series of virtual forums to allow candidates to present their positions on local issues.

While information about times, access and format have not yet been provided, forums will be presented on the following schedule:

Sept. 23 — IWVWD Water Board candidates

Sept. 29 — Ridgecrest Mayor candidates

Sept. 30 — Ridgecrest City Council candidates

Election milestones

Oct. 5 — Ballots will be mailed to all registered voters by the Kern County Elections Division

Oct. 20 — Deadline for guaranteed delivery of mail-in ballots by elections

Nov. 3 — General Election Day. Polling locations and additional information still pending.
