Mountain communities evacuated as SQF Complex Fire surpasses 45,000 acres

Mountain communities evacuated as SQF Complex Fire surpasses 45,000 acresSmoke advisories remain in effect, as the Sequoia National Complex Fire eclipses 45,000 acres. The Castle and Shotgun fires, whose flames were sparked by lightning last week, have combined into what officials are now calling the SQF Complex Fire. A growing perimeter, wind, dry temperatures and rugged terrain have made containment, listed at 1 percent at press time, difficult for firefighters. Several mountain communities have been evacuated, and road closures remain in effect at the Johnsondale Bridge and Sherman Pass and on Highway 190.
