Deanna Oney

Deanna OneyLongtime Ridgecrest resident Deanna Oney passed away Sept. 1, 2020, at 94 years old.

Deanna was born on Nov. 20, 1925 in Oney, Okla., to Ollie and Beaulah Oney.

Deanna was the oldest of six children and will be missed by surviving siblings Troy and Larry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie and Beaulah Oney, and siblings, Ted, MaryLou and John.

Deanna has three children, Mark Panasci and wife, Kimberly, Karen Cott and husband, Dennis, Lynn Baxendale and husband, Terry. She has three grandchildren, Charity Pepys and husband Max, Ryan Baxendale and wife, Katie and Kyle Baxendale and fiancé, Alyssa, five great grandchildren, Macy, Reese, Charlotte, Chase and Presley.

Deanna’s father, Ollie, came to China Lake when the base was being built. After graduating from Oney High School, Deanna, her mother and siblings came by bus from Oney, Oklahoma to join him.

Deanna was a devout Catholic and member of St. Ann Catholic Church. She was a member of the Legion of Mary, the prayer chain, adoration and chairman of the St. Ann Bazar for three years.

Deanna was self-employed for several years and later worked for Comarco. She enjoyed her job at Comarco and retired when they closed.

Deanna was well-loved by everyone who knew her. She was a kind, honest, caring person. Her friends always had kind words to say about her and kept in touch with her until her passing.

Rosary will be held Friday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. at Holland & Lyons Chapel, with services following at 10:30 a.m. Graveside services will be held afterward at Desert Memorial Park.
