National Poll Worker Recruitment Day is Sept. 1By MARY BEDARD

Kern County Auditor-Controller-County Clerk

KERN COUNTY ELECTIONS OFFICE - The Kern County Elections office is participating in National Poll Worker Recruitment Day to encourage people to sign up to be a poll worker for the November 3, 2020 election.

In an effort to raise awareness about the importance of poll workers, the US Election Assistance Commission established the National Poll Worker Recruitment Day. Volunteering as a poll worker provides an opportunity to contribute to the democratic process.

Recruiting poll workers is always a challenge. However, since most poll workers tend to be at an age that makes them vulnerable to complications due to COVID-19, it is especially challenging this year.

Requirements to be a poll worker:

• Be a registered voter

• Able to follow written instructions

• Able to serve from 6:00 a.m. to approximately 10 p.m.

Poll workers are paid a stipend, starting at $110, for serving on election day plus

additional stipends for attending training sessions.

The mission of Kern County Elections is to facilitate a transparent voting process with access for all eligible voters.

We are proud to be of assistance to the Voters of Kern County.

Please help us by volunteering to serve your community at the polls on election day.
