Officers of the Ridgecrest Police Department arrested Gilbert Alec Duran, 25, on Monday morning shortly after Duran reportedly threw a brick through a window at the police station.

β€œHe had no good reason to do it other than just doing it,” said RPD Sgt. Ryan Marrone.

Duran is being charged with a misdemeanor for being under the influence of a controlled substance and a felony charge of vandalism ($400 or more). He also faces two felony charges of assault as the brick reportedly risked hitting one of the employees in the building.

Duran was booked in the Bakersfield Central Receiving Facility on a $35,000 bail. His felony arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 2, 3 p.m. in Bakersfield.
