Marilyn Glover

Marilyn GloverMarilyn (Ruth) Glover, age 9,0 passed away of natural causes at home with her family on Aug. 5, 2020.

Ruth was an elegant, beautiful, and graceful believer of God, and her family and friends also knew her as a strong, brave, adventurous, fun, and exciting lady.

Her Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Desert Christian Center. However, the guests will be family only due to Covid restrictions. The officiating Pastor is James Hammett, and the arrangements are being made by Holland & Lyons Mortuary.

Marilyn Ruth Pearman was born in Cairo Illinois on October 19, 1929 to Leslie “Les” J. and Zelma Ann Pearman.

Ruth grew up in a small country town called Urbandale and would have to walk down a long dirt rode to catch the school bus everyday. Her dad Les was a carpenter who worked in the Illinois Lumber Mill cutting lumber to make furniture for Sears & Roebuck. Later, they moved to Detroit Michigan for her dad to get a Government job because of the war. Her mother got a job inspecting shoes and worked in a shoe factory, while Ruth was attending school. Eventually, her parents bought a restaurant in Pulaski Illinois that they owned for 10 years.

Ruth moved out at the age of 18 and rented an apt with girlfriends and started working as a telephone operator at the Cario Illinois Telephone Company. She met William Henderson Price in Cairo, Illinois, and they were married for 12 yrs. During this time she had a daughter Sherry Ann Price in Cairo, Illinois. They moved to Santa Ana Ca, where Ruth got a job soldering in a manufacturing company and did so well they promoted her to an inspector. She had a son William (Billy) Henderson Price Jr. and then they moved to Ridgecrest Ca where she had a daughter Teri Ann Price.

Later Ruth married Claude Houston Glover who owned the Bam Boo Club in Ridgecrest and worked until he retired at the Naval Air Weapons Station in China Lake, Ca. Claude (Pogie) adopted Ruth’s children Bill and Teri as Glover, and Ruth and Pogie were married for over 30 years until he passed away in Ridgecrest, Ca.

In Ridgecrest, Ruth worked at the telephone switch board at the Ridgecrest Regional Hospital, then she took a job at the Ridgecrest Telephone Company working as a switchboardTelephone Operator.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her daughter Sherry Zissos, and her great grandson Ryder Evans.

Ruth is survived by her children Bill Glover and Teri Olvera, her son-in-law Martin Olvera, her 5 grandchildren Michael Glover, Jason Evans, Chad Zissos, Christina Evans, and Nicole Zissos, and her 9 great grandchildren Charles, Lauren, Kyla, Mikey, Meriyah, McKayLynn, Peyton, Ryleigh, and Denver.
