NAWCWD recognizes Shepherd for 40 years of service

NAWCWD recognizes Shepherd for 40 years of serviceJoan Johnson, Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division’s executive director, presents Tony Shepherd with a 40-year length of service award. “You have such unique expertise,” Johnson said as she recalled some of Shepherd’s assignments during his 26 years in the Navy, and with the research, development and test and evaluation team at NAWCWD. “Besides your expertise, it’s your leadership and natural ability to work with and mentor others that has contributed to making us better. This is a very small token of our appreciation for your 40 years of distinguished service to the Navy and the United States.” A Ridgecrest native, Shepherd graduated from Burroughs High School in 1976 and then joined the Navy. He moved up the enlisted ranks and later received a commission through the Limited Duty Officer program. “It’s been a real pleasure, and I’ve had a lot of fun,” Shepherd said. “I’m still having fun, and am looking forward to the next few years before I retire.” — U.S. Navy photo by Paul Kakert
