"Nadeau Fire" growth slowsFlames were visible Wednesday evening over the ridges somewhere on Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, about 30 miles North-Northeast of Ridgecrest near Parrot Point according to fireweatheravalanche.org.

As of Sunday afternoon, the fire (dubbed the "Nadeau Fire") was 75-percent contained with minimal potential for growth according Martin Chick from San Bernardino's Federal Interagency Communication Center.

While the area of the fire is only reported as 261 acres of Bureau of Land Management property, the fire reportedly started on China Lake land and burned more than 13,000 acres before spreading into BLM jurisdiction.

The fire's apparent origin on the military installation sparked much speculation by residents of the Indian Wells Valley as to the its cause. The News Review reached out to NAWS China Lake last week for details and is still awaiting a response.
