At press time, a total of eight candidates had pulled papers to run for the three available seats on the Ridgecrest City Council.

Vying for the two-year Mayor seat, in order of their filings, are Thomas Wiknich, Eric Bruen, Christian West and Lindsey Stephens (currently serving her first four-year term on the council).

For the two four-year council seats, Christian Aguirre, Steven Morgan, Kyle Blades (currently filling an appointment on the council) and Solomon Rajaratnam.

Candidates have until Aug. 6 to complete the filing process, which requires a meeting with the city clerk, the completion of a petition of support, payment of a fee, and verification by the Kern County Elections Division. So far, Wiknich, Aguirre, Morgan and Blades are the only contenders to complete the process.

Other interested candidates should contact Ricca Charlon at 760-499-5002 or rcharlon@ridgecrest-ca.gov in order to start the process.

For all other races, candidates have until Aug. 7 to complete the filing process with a clerk from the county elections division. The other races, along with the available seats and candidates who have filed at press time, include:
