Delta Aquariid comes in July

The China Lake Astronomical Society, depending on the plans to open the Maturango Museum, will hold its next meeting Monday, July 6, at 7:30 p.m. Masks and proper social distancing protocol will be enforced.

Because of the risks of sharing equipment, the club has canceled its July star party. Future parties have also been canceled until further notice.

JULY CELESTIAL CALENDAR

1. Venus is in the morning sky this month where it will be visible in the east before sunrise.

2. Mercury moves to the morning sky this month where it can be seen in the northeast the last half of the month.

3. Jupiter and Saturn are in the evening sky all month where they can be seen close together in the southeast after the sun sets.

4. Mars rises in the east around midnight this month and can be seen moving to the south as the night progresses.

5. The Delta Aquariid meteor shower peaks on the evenins of July 28th and 29th.
