Ruby Lynn Allen

Ruby Lynn AllenRuby Lynn Allen passed away at her home in Ridgecrest on May 2, 2020, with her good friend Jo by her side after a courageous battle against breast cancer.

Ruby was born in Pasadena, Calif., on Jan. 19, 1947, to Willard and Emma Allen. She was the youngest of three girls.

Her two older sisters, Shirley and Janet, have preceded her from this life. She is survived by both of her sisters’ children, her close friend Joanna Dickey and other close friends.

Ruby worked as a park ranger for the Ridgecrest BLM Field Office for 16 years. She started her career at BLM as a student trainee park ranger in July 2000. She graduated from Cerro Coso Community College and in November 2007 became a fulltime park ranger and continued working and caring for the public lands until her retirement in December 2017.

Ruby enjoyed watching TV news with her beloved dogs by her side. Ruby and Jo took the dogs out for a special doggie burger every Saturday. She also enjoyed spending time with friends going out for dinner and traveling. Ruby had a good sense of humor that was known mostly to close relations, but she always had a cheerful ”Good morning!” and “How are you doing?” for her co-workers and friends.

Ruby was a caring, loving, fun, and really good woman to her family and friends and friendly to all who crossed her path. She is missed.

A small service for Ruby will be held on May 16, 2020 for family and close friends only in keeping with current guidelines and efforts in keeping all safe.
