Council to meet WednesdayThe Ridgecrest City Council will hear mostly routine items at its Wednesday, March 18, meeting at 6 p.m. in council chambers.

The council is expected to advise Scott Hayman, the city’s delegate to the IWVGA, on the council’s position of items up for discussion at the authority’s March 19 meeting.

Staff is requesting authorization to submit a grant proposal to the Eastern Kern Air Pollution Control District for the 2020 DMV program.

The council will also consider authorizing City Manager Ron Strand to spend some $141,000 in funding for a professional services agreement with QK Engineering to prepare updated engineering design standards and details along with updated quality assurance program standards.

The final item for discussion is approval of a construction project for a 30-foot-wide roadway on West Dolphin Avenue.

The meeting will open with an update from Gerry Hillier on Quadstate Local Governments Authority and a proclamation in observance of National Transit Driver Appreciation Day.

Consent calendar items include proclamations and presentations for the month of March and a letter of support for Assembly Bill 2428, which addresses emergency preparedness.
