Ohio Christian University Softball signs Rebecca SherpaRebecca Sherpa (right front) of Ridgecrest signs on to play softball for Ohio Christian University. She is shown with (from left) Dave Gonzo, Todd Hopkins and Julie Miller. Rebecca is a senior homeschool student through Calvary Christian School, which allows her to play sports through a multi-school agreement with Immanuel Christian School. She is currently a pitcher and utility player in the varsity softball program under Coach Hopkins. She began playing in the local Indian Wells Valley Youth Softball Club when she was 6 and continued to play multiple seasons of travel ball with the organization. She played with the Burroughs High School Junior Varsity team her freshman and sophomore years and was awarded MVP. She transferred to ICS her junior year, when she received Co-defensive Player of the Year. She maintains a 3.7 GPA and is part of Honors Society and NSHSS. At OCU she will play under Coach Jackie Huff. OCU is an NAIA school in Circleville. She will continue her position as pitcher and utility player on the team. She also plans to major in criminal justice, with a minor in youth ministry. — Courtesy photo
