Ron Pettit

Ron Pettit was born in 1943 in Phoenix, Ariz., and died Jan. 30, 2020, in Ridgecrest. He fought a nearly 22-year battle with leukemia, but in the end dementia claimed his life.

Ron worked at China Lake from 1962 until his retirement in 1993. He loved his work as an electronics tech and enjoyed working with many different coworkers.

In 1969 Ron met his soulmate, Donna. They were together for nearly 51 years and married for 43.

Ron was multitalented. His home is filled with many of his oil paintings.

He also was a gifted muscician — playing piano, banjo and guitar.

Ron is survived by his wife Donna, son Brian and daughter Karen Smith (Bob).

He was a proud grandpa to Justin Smith (Patience) and Cody Smith (Ashley). His sister Shula Frasher (Bubba) lives in Porterville. He was blessed with great-grandchildren, Allison and Houston.

Ron loved to play games with the gamily. Cribbage was a favorite. He loved breakfast at Denny’s and his favorite waiter Melissa. He is missed already.
