Earthquake lecture to be given in Trona on Feb. 20

The Searles Lake Gem and Mineral Society will host geologist Glenn Harris, who will give a lecture on the July 4-5 earthquakes, on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m. in the society’s Show Building.

Harris will discuss the geologic setting for the region, as it relates to past, present and future possibilities. He will present maps, photographs, charts and models to illustrate his lecture.

He will also provide time for questions and answers following the talk.

Harris, a fifth-generation Californian, holds degrees in rangeland management and geology. He has also completed extensive graduate work in wildland hydrology.

A retired natural resources specialist for the BLM, he continues to volunteer with that agency and as a docent for the Maturango Museum.

The meeting is open to the public.
