City completes improvements

City completes improvementsThe Ridgecrest Public Works Department has announced completion of the citywide School Crosswalk Improvement project, which introduced push-button-operated flash beacons at seven school crossing.

The new features appear at the following locations:

• Immanuel Christian School on West Graaf Avenue

• Mesquite High School on West Drummond Avenue

• Las Flores Elementary School on West Los Flores Avenue

• James Monroe Middle School at West Church Avenue

• Faller Elementary School on South Guam Street

• Pierce Elementary School on Gold Canyon Street

• Gateway Elementary School on South Gateway Boulevard

“The flashing lights are programmed to allow adequate time for children and adults to cross when the button is pressed, and the timer resets if the button is pressed again,” said Board Lower, public works director.

“The city encourages the use of these upgraded crosswalks, as opposed to crossing these streets at uncontrolled locations.”
