Artists’ League announces upcoming activities

The Desert Artists’ League has announced a series of programs offered within the next few weeks.

On Monday, Jan. 6, DAL Treasurer Debbie Newton will present “White Pastel,” offering members instruction on white pastel or pencil on black paper.

The workshop is from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene.

Membership dues, pro-rated for a partial year, are $25 per person.

On Monday, Feb. 3, Jean Krumbein will demonstrate at the regular monthly meeting.

She will also present a one-day workshop on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 9 a.m. at Church of the Nazarene. The cost is $80 for members and $90 for nonmembers.

Her workshop is entitled “Figure Drawing Skills.” Krumbein is an artist, art model and teacher.

“Figure drawing is one of the most fascinating things to draw for artists,” said a spokesperson.

“She will share tools and methods that will help overcome the intimidation many artists feel. This class will give you simple ways to see and problem solve, which can also be used in any other representative visual art.”

Students will be given demonstrations and will draw from a live (clothed) model.

“Come discover the joy of this wonderful and challenging art form.”

Beginners are welcome. No experience is needed.
