‘Won’t You Be My Neighbor?’

The committee presenting the annual birthday celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., invites the community to attend the observance Monday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m. at Ridgecrest United Methodist Church.

According to a spokesperson, Dr. King wrote in his book, “On Being a Good Neighbor,” that “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands in times of challenge and controversy.

“The true neighbor will risk his position, his prestige and even his life for the welfare of others.”

Following the program, a light luncheon will be served.

Anyone interested in participating for the choir for the event is invited to practice on Monday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m. at the Methodist Church.
