Exhibit highlights Native American culture

The Maturango Museum will host an opening reception for “Native Visions of the Americas,” a mixed-media exhibit by Becky Olvera Shultz, on Friday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m.

Shultz draws inspiration from the indigenous people of the Americas for her show, which will feature Southwestern and native clay and gourd masks, rawhide shields, serigraphs, photos and more.

“I have directed my consuming interest in the native peoples of the Americas into my own personal art expression,” said Schultz. “I derive immense satisfaction from putting life into the materials I work with. My art is an extension of my spirit, a piece of my personal vision and a constant source of comfort and healing for me.”

The exhibit will remain open until March 10. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information see www.maturango.org.
