Nuno receives Extended Opportunity Program and Services scholarshipCerro Coso Community College student Zulema Nuno (center) receives a $750 Extended Opportunity Program and Services scholarship. Nuno is a first-generation college student who returned to school after becoming a single parent to Luna Isabel and Joseph Daniel. She is taking a full-time course load while working in the CCCC Counseling Department. She is part of the EOPS, CARE and CALWORKS programs. EOPS provided Zulema with financial and counseling support. According to a CCCC spokesperson, the program has supported her ability to maintain financial independence and provide for her family. Nuno is on track to earn her associate’s degree in business administration next spring, and hopes to pursue a bachelor’s degree next year. — Courtesy photo
