A teenage girl was injured Wednesday afternoon after she was reportedly struck by a car at the intersection of California Avenue and China Lake Boulevard.

According to reports, the 16-year-old Burroughs High School student was riding a motorized scooter through the crosswalk around 3 p.m. and was hit by a white sedan turning right onto China Lake Boulevard from California Avenue. She sustained major injuries. She was wearing her helmet.

Ridgecrest Police Department, Liberty Ambulance and Kern County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, and the driver of the vehicle was reportedly uninjured. More details from RPD were not available at press time.

The girl was transported to Ridgecrest Regional Hospital, then airlifted to Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield. According to a Facebook updates from the victim’s father, she suffered a dislocated hip and a broken pelvis.
