Lloyd A. Lester

Lloyd A. “Rusty” Lester was born Aug. 8, 1950, and died on Oct. 21, 2019. He is survived by his long-time companion Missy Carlile, son Russel W. Lester, sisters Shirley (Lester) Hamify and Sandra (Hamilton) Hoagland, granddaughter Brooke Lester, grandson Brock Lester and great-granddaughter Hazel Burgess.

Rusty grew up in Barstow and Ridgecrest and graduated from Sherman E. Burroughs High School in 1968.

He was a contractor with his lifelong friend Steve Quinten for years before retiring in Reno, Nev.

He was also a highly decorated veteran from the Vietnam War who served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1974. He was always a musician and played violin in the high school orchestra and drums in various bands including Wayne Paisano and the Roadrunners.

A service will be held at the Mt. View Memorial Park, 37067 Irwin Rd., Barstow, on Monday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. A celebration of hia life will be held at the American Legion in Ridgecrest at 5 p.m.
