A single-vehicle rollover claimed the life of a Ridgecrest resident last week according to a release from the California Highway Patrol’s Mojave office. Allen C. Parker, 44, reportedly sustained fatal injuries when his car overturned into the desert for unknown reasons.

Parker was an Indian Wells Valley Youth Softball boardmember and coach. “Allen was a wonderful coach and father,” said IWVYS in a Facebook post. “Rest in peace Allen, you will be forever missed.”

According to the release, Parker was hnorthbound on South China Lake Boulevard at approximately 2 a.m. when he went off the road about two miles north of the intersection with U.S. Highway 395.

Officers of the Kern County Sheriff’s Office found Parker in a dirt field around 7 a.m. The coroner’s office determined that he died at the scene as a result of his injuries. Parker appeared to be the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The incident is still under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
