The Burroughs High School varsity football team defeated the Sultana High School Sultans of Hesparia for their first conference win of the season.

The Burros dominated early and established a 13-0 lead by half time. The Sultans scored 13 points of their own in an earnest comeback attempt, but another touchdown and extra point from the Burros resulted in a 20-13 home win.

Senior Brett Stephey and junior Brian Schwaiger scored the Burros’ two touchdowns, with an impressive eight kicking points from senior Noa Crescencio.

The Burros will face the Hesperia High School Scorpions tonight in Hesperia to fight for fourth place in the Mojave River League, their only chance to qualify for the conference playoffs.
