Balsam St renovation breaks ground

Balsam St renovation breaks groundTHE SIERRA PROJECT – Local real estate investment and development company The Sierra Project is proud to announce its latest and largest project yet: a total facade transformation in the heart of downtown Ridgecrest.

Numbers 126, 128, 130 and 132 Balsam Street (better known as Mon Reve, Indigenous and The Game Vault | Escape Rooms) will undergo significant renovations over the coming weeks, resulting in storefronts that are nearly unrecognizable from how they sit currently.

“I wanted to design something special,” said Ryan C. Smith, founder and designer of The Sierra Project, “and it’s poetic to start with this building.”

Thirty years ago, this building was the first on the street to be remodeled. It triggered a design shift on Balsam, which resulted in an intermittent mix of Santa Fe-style facades.

“We’re hoping to bring back the unified, modern look that Balsam Street used to have,” said Smith.

While not all of the plans have been announced yet, it is confirmed this is only Phase 1 of a multistep plan. Construction is expected to begin before the end of the month.

“There are many more exciting projects on the horizon,” said Smith. “Aside from real estate development, we also have multiple business ventures in the works, all geared toward entertainment and nightlife.”

The Sierra Project, LLC was established in 2016. By example, it aims to elevate the community's standards of excellence in both commercial real estate and business practices. Its emphasis is to showcase the very best of local businesses and to fill the gaps between them.
