Police were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision Wednesday morning when the driver of a Nissan Xterra crashed into a brick wall bordering a residential area on East Ridgecrest Boulevard near North American Street.

According to Ridgecrest Police Sgt. Aaron Tucker, an off-duty police officer and BLM Ranger were the first on the scene where they reportedly found the driver unconscious but breathing.

Officers removed the driver, later identified as Brooks Reeves-Talley, 27, from the vehicle and placed him on his back.

Tucker said emergency services arrived to administer medical treatment. After the driver’s vitals were checked, he reportedly came to.

Reeves-Talley appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance, and police reportedly found drug paraphernalia in his vehicle. He was arrested and booked in the Kern County Jail in Mojave.
