The Ridgecrest Police Department arrested a suspect for unlawful firearm possession, according to a release from the department.

Officers reportedly contacted 40-year-old Ridgecrest resident David Haynes at approximately 11:30 p.m. while they were on patrol Sunday, Aug. 25. After learning Haynes was on probation, officers searched his vehicle where they found a loaded firearm with several rounds of ammunition.

Because Haynes has prior felony convictions, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition. He was booked in the Mojave jail. Court information was not available as of press time.
