Quake relief grants available

Quake relief grants availableThe Kern Community Foundation announced that grants are available for earthquake relief in the East Kern communities.

“Thanks to generous funding from our valued community partners, this one-time competitive grant opportunity is available to 501(c)(3) nonprofit agencies operating in Kern County,” said a spokesperson.

To make the funding available as quickly as possible, applications must be submitted by Friday, Aug. 30. The maximum amount to be awarded will be $20,000.

To be eligible, organizations must be registered with the Kern Community Foundation, have a “Silver” or higher Transparency Rating on GuideStar.org, be involved in disaster-relief efforts following the July 4-5 earthquakes, or have incurred earthquake damages that have compromised their ability to function and deliver services to the community at normal capacity.
