Clinton Dean Hill

Clinton Dean Hill (Dean), 72, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019, in Ridgecrest, Calif. He was born in Pocatello, Idaho, on April 1, 1947, the son of Clinton B. Hill and Georgia Hill. He was dearly loved by his family and all who met him.

The family moved to Ridgecrest in 1960 when Dean was 13 years old. After graduating from Burroughs High School in 1965 he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He saw active duty in Vietnam and was discharged in 1968.

He returned to Ridgecrest and in 1969 began employment at Naval Air Weapons Center, China Lake. He was an engineering technician until 2008 when he received his mechanical engineering title.

He received numerous awards during his career. Most of his career was spent in the Sidewinder missile program office. He was in charge of the Sidewinder Missile Maintenance Facility when he retired in 2010 after 42 years of service.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed fishing trips with his family and teaching the sport to his grandchildren.

Clinton is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sheryl (King) Hill; daughters Morgan Hill and Codi Hill; grandchildren Lexi, Kayden, Roman, Paisley, Apollo and Mac; brothers Gary, David and Dennis, and sister Darla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia and Clinton Hill, and his beloved daughter Rebecca (Bekki) Pitman.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 16, noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1031 S. Norma St. in Ridgecrest.
