Council to hear cinema proposalA public hearing on the proposed development of a 10-screen cinema on a property at China Lake Boulevard and Rader Avenue will be on the agenda of the next Ridgecrest City Council meeting, held Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers.

The hearing will provide an overview of the development agreement between the city and G&L China Lake, LLC. Following the public hearing, the council is scheduled to conduct the introduction and first reading of the proposed ordinance.

Other items scheduled for discussion include council provision of guidance to Scott Hayman, the city’s representative on the IWV Groundwater Authority. City Engineer Loren Culp will also present approval grant applications for road projects.

The council will also meet in closed session at 5 p.m. for a conference with legal counsel regarding pending litigation with the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe.
