Concert raises thousands for earthquake victims

Concert raises thousands for earthquake victimsGrady Baker and Ryan Woods of local band “Throttle” perform during Soundstorm’s Earthquake Relief Concert at the Desert Empire Fairgrounds on Saturday. Several other local bands performed at the event, where attendees and donors helped raise more than $11,000 for those impacted by the earthquakes. “That’s not too shabby for a bunch of misfit local bands getting together and putting on a fundraiser,” said Nino Agostinacci, Throttle drummer and event organizer. “I know that we all put in a ton of work on this thing. Some went above and beyond. But without every single one of the participants, this would have never happened.” Organizers estimate that roughly 700 people attended the fundraiser. Those in need of financial support as a result of the earthquakes are encouraged to call the Ridgecrest Lions Club, 760-371-1788. — Photo by Laura Austin
