Cory A. Baker

Cory A. BakerCory Allen Baker passed away June 20, 2019, at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. He was 29.

He was born Oct. 10, 1989, in Ridgecrest, Calif. As a young boy Cory was always on the go; there was no slowing him down. He loved hanging out with his friends and family, playing soccer, camping, fishing and snowboarding every chance he got; he was a kid at heart and never wanted to grow up.

He was very smart, and he let it get the best of him at times. Cory struggled his whole life just wanting to belong and hid his feelings by pretending to be someone he was not. The Cory most people knew was not the Cory that his family and close friends knew.

Those who really knew him knew that he cared deeply and loved everyone; he was always looking for love and he would do almost anything for the people he loved. Even in death Cory has continued to help others by being a donor; hopefully someday we will get the chance to meet those he helped.

He is survived by his son. Mason Shane Baker; parents Cindy Flowers (Shenan) and Paul Meinert (Paula); sisters Stacey Duff, Mackenzie Flowers and Aria Flowers; brother Daniel Meinert; stepsiblings, Hecter Zavala and Bianka Diaz; grandparents, Carol E. Baker, Linda Fuller and Cleo Northrup (Paz); aunt Kristie Dillman; uncles Clayton Northrup and Fred Meinert (Jenny); and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandpas, Allen A. Baker and Douglas Meinert.

Services will be held for anyone wishing to attend on Friday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. at the Desert Memorial Park Rose Garden. A Celebration of Life potluck will follow at 626 Weiman Ave. at 4:30 p.m.
