Dennis E. Helsel

Dennis E. HelselDennis Edward Helsel of Midland, Texas, was found deceased in his home on June 10, 2019. He was 31.

Dennis was born to Dennis and Teresa Helsel on March 17, 1988, in Ridgecrest. While growing up in Ridgecrest, Dennis enjoyed racing mini legend cars in Pearsonville. He earned the name Flipper, because every race he would flip the race car over. He earned his black belt in karate by the time he was 8. He then moved on to play football.

He was such a showboat on the field that he earned the name Hollywood Helsel. During middle school he moved on to dirt bike riding and moto racing, which continued on into his adult life.

In 2012 Dennis decided to grab a job in Texas and left California to make his new home. Through his travels between Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas, he decided Texas was where he wanted to spend the rest of his life. The loves of his life were his dogs, Stoney and Annabelle. He took them everywhere.

Dennis was a generally happy person who always tried to make everyone have a good time and always made friends. If someone was in need he tried to help them the best he could. Parts of our hearts are definitely with him forever. He will be missed.

Dennis was preceded in death by his grandmother Elle Ratto, his mother Teresa Helsel, his aunt Gretchen Ratto, his grandmother Katherine Bell, cousin Jessica La Fon and cousin James Brackney.
